The Miamians Present Two Performances of the “Barbershop Harmony Salutes the Cowboy” Show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

On April 19 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater. Audiences enjoyed classic renditions of songs about life on the open range and the old west, including hits by Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Tex Ritter, tunes from Todd Duncan’s Broadway production of Lost in the Stars and songs from early television programs, such as The Roy Rogers Show.

Three special guest quartets were featured; “Sunny Boys”, “The Academy” and “Throwback”, all of whom showed just how exciting Barbershop Quartet Music can be

Here at the Broward Center performance are (L to R): Dolores Hanley McDiarmid, Maria Carla Rosales from the Lighthouse and Matthew Kaskel, Miamians President, Eddie Mejia, Miamians’ Assistant Choral Director, Alex Rubin, Chief Choral Director & Kevin Mendez, Assistant Choral Director.

We were honored to have many folks from the Lighthouse of Broward join us for the evening and we received this kind note from Elly du Pre, the Executive Director and Dolores McDiarmid, Rehabilitation Instructor and Outreach Coordinator:

Dear Matthew,

What a wonderful introduction to the Barbershop Harmony Chorus! Thank you so much for inviting everyone from Lighthouse of Broward. Those of us who attended really enjoyed the performance. The skits that coincided with the music ere GREAT!!! They were very entertaining.

Thank you again! Happy Trails to you and the Miamians…until we meet again!

Dolores & Elly

PS: Carla and I especially liked Throwback!

If you missed out on these performances, please come to see us on October 18, 2014 for our next performance at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center.
